The basic highlights of fresh new Magento releases

Magento 1.9.4.2

Magento Open Source 1.9.4.2 release provides resolution of multiple critical security issues and functional fixes. The patch SUPEE-11155, which applies to older versions of Magento helps to close cross-site scripting, arbitrary code execution, and sensitive data disclosure vulnerabilities.

In short:

  • There is no more opportunity to upload files with the extension .swf to the WYSIWYG editor.
  • Third-party checkout extensions and closed security cases will either not work securely or will not work at all.
  • The Authorize.net Direct Post module has been improved to support the replacement of Authorize.net’s MD5-based hash with a (SHA-512) signature key.

Magento 2.2.9

Magento Open Source 2.2.9 release brings functional fixes, improved security practices, and infrastructure enhancements.

In short:

  • 75 security enhancements will help close cross-site scripting (XSS), remote code execution (RCE), and sensitive data disclosure vulnerabilities.
  • 130 infrastructure improvements improve the quality of the Framework and the following modules: Catalog, Sales, Checkout/One Page Checkout,  UrlRewrite, Customer/Customers, and UI.

Magento 2.3.2

Magento Open Source 2.3.2 release provides you some more ways to speed up your website as well as substantial security enhancements. In addition, you get 200 functional fixes to the core product and over 350 pull requests contributed by the community.

In short:

  • The available Scope parameter for Async/Bulk API patch to address an issue with the Async/Bulk REST API.
  • Google reCAPTCHA module for PayPal Payflow checkout form.
  • Product page gallery load optimization.
  • Improved page response times for the catalog, search, and advanced search pages.
  • Improved page rendering through deferred loading and parsing of storefront JavaScript.

Updates for Magento 2.x modules due to the recent releases

Magento 2 Argento theme was updated in view of the great number of security enhancements and various performance improvements made in 2.3.2 and 2.2.9.

The recent Argento 1.12.0 release provides the necessary updates for modules included in Argento template's package.

Among some updates you can see:

  • Expand layered navigation mixin moved to Blank and can be used in any theme
  • Fixed missing newsletter subscribe button in Magento 2.3.2 / 2.2.9
  • Fixed newsletter block styles when GDPR enabled in Luxury theme

Magento 2 AMP module was also updated with all enhancements released in Magento 2.3.2 and 2.2.9. In 1.3.4 version you can see:

  • Fixed disabled add to cart button in Magento 2.3.2
  • Fixed wrong image sizes on category page

Updates for Magento 1.x modules due to the recent release

We are still investigating and testing Magneto 1.9.4.2 release and third party modules compatibility with our Fire Checkout module. We don't recommend update without testing in development environment right now. In case you are having any problem feel free to contact us at contact form.

All other Magento extensions are compatible with the last Magento 1.9.4.2 release.
