See how to start using Google Consent Mode V2 for your Magento 2 stores

See how to start using Consent Mode V2 in Magento 2 stores.

The consent mode is an old thing, you will say. Yes, our post is not about this Google feature itself. Still, when the feature is required to be implemented since March 2024 for stores that have traffic in the European Economic Area (EEA), don't miss the post.

We will talk about the tool to help you implement Consent Mode V2 in Magento 2 stores. You will also learn more about updates in this Google feature. This all is important if you want to continue collecting users' data for remarketing with Google’s advertising services. Let's start.

What's in Consent mode V2?

  • Consent Mode V2 introduced the concepts of Advanced Consent Mode and Basic Consent Mode. When the basic type is enabled, data is collected only if the user grants consent. In the case of the advanced type, data is collected when users grant consent and when they deny consent.
  • The two additional parameters appeared. The ad_user_data sets consent for sending user data to Google for advertising purposes. The ad_personalization sets consent for personalized advertising. See more details.

We want to remind you that your website must pass through end-user consent choices when you measure user behavior with Google tags. This is mandatory. Thus you guarantee a store’s use of cookies and visitor data is compliant with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The set of regulations is crucial for users and businesses in the European Union.

So. Do you want to implement the Google Consent V2 on your Magento 2 website?

GDPR 1.6.0 release in a hurry

Our Magento 2 GDPR module is of great help to clients who are doing business in the European Union (EU). For the most part, it strengthens the EU user consent policy.

We keep up with the latest news and do our best to update the Magento products according to the requirements that appear. In March 2024 we introduce the GDPR 1.6.0 release with the next improvements:

  • Cookies were reorganized into better groups. We added a preferences cookie group. The advertisement group merged into the Marketing group.
  • We removed useless customer section updates after changing cookie consent settings.

Now you have the tool to enable Google Consent V2 in your Magento 2 stores. Take advantage of the release to continue using Google’s advertising services.

And, as always, we look forward to your comments.
