Today’s article focuses on launching a new FireCheckout release for Magento 2. The new release includes the new built-in module, new helpful features, improved compatibility, and as usual the updates for modules that are part of FireCheckout package.
Our primary goal is to help you extend the functionality of Magento 2 checkout page. That's why we try to find effective solutions that will improve the user experience when checkout.
New built-in module
A Subscribe At Checkout module - is pretty self-explanatory. The module allows you to show a "Subscription" checkbox on the checkout page. That way your guests can sign up for your store's newsletters during the checkout process.
The Subscribe At Checkout extension works well on standard M2 one step checkout modules as well as on FireCheckout.
New styling to checkout forms
FireCheckout 1.7 has got the updated default form styles and new configurable form styles. Now you can use 3 available form modes:
- Horizontal (Label aside of the field)
- Basic (Same as horizontal, except label above the field)
- Compact (Two fields per row)
In case you choose the Basic or Compact modes, you can also hide the labels and use the field’s placeholders instead.
New feature wanted by admins
FireCheckout comes with Checkout Success module that was altered in 1.7 release. Now your admins can work with easy to use drag-and-drop interface when modifying a checkout success page layout. You can see, that the predefined blocks can be arranged in any way you need. You can move blocks from one segment to another or delete the block.
Furthermore, you can use a page preview feature now. It allows you to input the order number and preview the order confirmation page.
By using new backend drag-and-drop layout builder, you get much more possibilities to customize Magento 2 checkout success page.
Fixes and improvements
- Added ability to redirect to Firecheckout page after Add to Cart action.
- Fixed layout error when using Empty Layout on Magento 2.2.
- Fixed order placement with ‘PayPal Express in-context’ payment method.
- Fixed non-working Authorize.Net payment on magento < 2.2.0.
- Fixed invalid billing address when using PayPal express or another method without visible address form.
- Fixed address form visibility when a virtual quote is used.
- Improved third-party payment methods compatibility.
- Added ability to add js plugins at the firecheckout page from layout XML instructions.
- Magento 2.2.0 compatibility improvements.
The updates for Magento 2 modules
The checkout is rather a complex process. It’s necessary to eliminate all possible elements that may stop user complete the purchase. Therefore our Magento 2 one step checkout extension includes 10 additional Magento 2 modules: Address Autocomplete, Address Field Manager, Checkout Cart, Checkout Fields, Delivery Date, GeoIp, Order Attachments, Subscribe at Checkout, Success Page, Tax Vat Validation.
