It's been a fun, demanding, interesting and frustrating journey from the start to success. We initially worked to try and solve bugs and fix things in our own website, learning from online forums and other fixes posted on the internet. This took a huge amount of time, but we didn't have the resources to always be paying for a developer to fix small things that we were told could cost us $1000 to fix. This meant that we became quite good at understanding how things worked, and still do, which is good when managing developers.
The expense involved took us along the route of outsourcing overseas for web development. This probably only worked because we had a good knowledge by then of what was needed in a website, but ultimately has saved a huge amount of money compared with local Australian developers.
