Easy Catalog Images extension will help you to improve the functionality of your website. Now you can easily add category and subcategory block anywhere in your store via the widget. The following settings are available to be changed: the number of categories and subcategories to be shown, columns count, image size. Easy Catalog Images block is taking out images for categories from the category thumbnail or category image attribute. If a thumbnail is not available you can enable the category image usage. This was something I was scratching my head over since I have accomplished adding subcat images in other carts, with ease. This module is excellent.
Quality Support
The only aspect I would change is to have a separate subcatimg for the subcat images and cathdrimg for the category headers. Trying to make the same image fit both purposes is difficult.
