Let's use Magento 2.3.5 improvements through updated modules.

Since April 28, 2020, we can use so many improvements with Magento 2.3.5 version. The new release brings security enhancements, platform upgrades, improvements to PWA Studio, a bulk of updates in Catalog as well as Cart and checkout.

You can learn more about updates in our blog article today. We created a shortlist of the main changes. You will also see the security updates of Magento 1.9.4.5. We updated all our modules to work perfectly with the latest versions.

Security first

Magento 2.3.5 presents a set of powerful new security tools for Magento installations. Content Security Policies (CSP) provide additional layers of defense. This helps to detect and mitigate Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and related data injection attacks. A standardized set of directives tell the browser which content resources can be trusted, and which should be blocked. It works as if CSP restricts browser content to include only whitelisted resources.

Fore more information about CSP support, read the official Magento blog.

Besides CSP implementation the 2.3.5 release includes over 25 security fixes.

PWA Studio improvements

By further focusing on the future of mobile commerce, Magento keeps with the continuous improvement of PWA Studio integration.

Within the 2.3.5 release, PWA Studio 6.0.0 brings new features:

  • Launch of the PWA extensibility framework.
  • Improved caching logic and data fetching optimizations.
  • Ability to use shopping cart components for a full-page shopping cart experience.

To learn more about these enhancements please look at PWA Studio release.

Platform upgrades

  • No longer support for the core integrations of the Authorize.Net, eWay, CyberSource, and Worldpay third-party payment methods. So you have to migrate to the official extensions that are available on the Magento Marketplace.
  • Support for Elasticsearch 7.x.
  • Deprecation of the core integration of the Signifyd fraud protection code.
  • Migration of dependencies on the Zend Framework to the Laminas project. In the 2.3.5 release, there is a number of changes to code and configuration that are required to support the use of the Laminas libraries.

Despite stopping support for some third-party vendors, Magento still keeps providing quality and UX improvements to Vertex and Klarna extensions. When it comes to Yotpo, it was integrated with Page Builder.

By the way, the Page Builder was updated to 1.3.0 through Magento Commerce 2.3.5 requirements. See more about Page Builder updates.

Extra list of improvements

With the Magento 2.3.5 release, we all also receive a few other improvements in infrastructure and performance:

  • Multiple optimizations to Redis performance.
  • Improvements to customer data section invalidation logic.
  • The PayPal Pro payment method works in the Chrome 80 browser.
